Overview: This document produced within the framework of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands provides a brief overview of the status of peatlands worldwide. It also proposes policy recommendations on the restoration of disturbed peatlands in the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030).
