In-Tech Reclamation Award 2022 awarded to PERG!

This is one of three prestigious awards presented by the Canadian Land Reclamation Association / Association Canadienne de Réhabilitation des Sites Dégradés (CLRA/ACRSD)

We are delighted to announce that the Peatland Ecology Research Group (PERG) has won the "In-Tech Reclamation Award (Group) 2022"! This is one of three prestigious awards presented by the Canadian Land Reclamation Association / Association Canadienne de Réhabilitation des Sites Dégradés (CLRA/ACRSD)

The award is given to a group in recognition of outstanding contributions in the areas of professional practice, teaching, research and/or regulatory development, as they relate to innovation within disturbed land reclamation in Canada. The award recognizes past and present members of the Peatland Ecology Research Group: researchers, students, research professionals and all collaborators, including industrial and government partners!

The In-Tech Reclamation Award (Group) 2022 has been presented at the closing banquet of the RE3 Conference, on the evening of Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury, in Quebec City (QC, Canada).

The PERG would like to thank all the people and organizations who helped put together PERG's nomination for the In-Tech Reclamation Award 2022!

To highlight this award, the Canadian Land Reclamation Association offered PERG a painting created from a photo of the South Julius site in Manitoba, a fen restored and studied by PERG members, thanks to the restoration work of Sun Gro. The painting was done by Shannon Carla King in 2023 from a drone photo taken by Aamir S. Khan (PhD student at U. Laval) in 2022. Click here for more details on the painting and restoration at South Julius.

This painting is exhibited in the entrance hall of the Envirotron pavilion at Université Laval in Quebec City (QC)
